Handling of sandstone products may cause abrasive damage to the hands. Excessive handling may cause dermatitis or drying of unprotected skin. Cutting or similar surface treatment of the products will give rise to respiritable dust. Such dust contains silica and if inhaled in excessive quantities over extended periods, can constitute a long-term health hazard. Advice on the silica content of dust produced from individual sandstone is available from supplier if required. During cutting or similar surface treatment, inhalation of dust should be avoided and eyes should be protected.

Protective Equipment

Transportation, Storage and Disposal

The carriage of sandstone products is not subject to hazardous substance conveyance regulations and vehicle labelling is not required. Sandstone products(sandstone bathroom sink) are inert, but should be disposed of in accordance with local legal requirements. Particular care should be taken in the stacking and general handling of individual sandstone units or packs of units, taking into account the weight of the products, angle of repose (if appropriate), stability of the packs, etc.
